Landscape For The Car
1980 -
This ongoing project explores the day to day conditions and experiences of car ownership. This is not about ‘classic’ cars but more about the conditions that make car ownership and use possible and how these ‘rules’ influence our behaviour. I have been investigating the space taken up by cars, also signage and how localities communicate their identity to the driver, and how, despite the rules, individual personality is expressed through objects and stickers placed inside and outside the vehicle. The car has become an extension of the house.
