The Forest Tract
1994
I was very fortunate in being invited to visit Malaysia on an international arts workshop on a rather cold and snowy February morning. The project involved a group of artists from around the world visiting the recently opened Belum Jungle, staying in a research camp run by the Malaysian Nature Society and making work about their experience. This work was later shown in the National Gallery in Kuala Lumpur. Returning home I made comparative set of images in Jumble Hole Clough, a post industrial valley in Calderdale. I discovered that before the Ice Age, this area had been a tropical swamp.
