Moors and Reservoirs
1980-3

This body of work covers an open and wild area of moorland that stretches across the South Pennines between Lancashire and Yorkshire. My pictures reflect on these open spaces which are primarily used as collecting grounds for the reservoirs that supply water to the surrounding towns. Since the privatisation of the water industry, the area has been opened up for walkers. The main path which cuts through the area is the Pennine Way. I was particularly fond of how the shape of the reservoir was formed by the lie of the land and this shape is also reflected in other features - rocks, pools and even a sheep fold.
