The Changing Land - Oxfordshire
1974-6

I was born and brought up in Oxfordshire but went to school in the north of England and after a year spent in London, studied photography in Manchester. When I graduated, I returned home and made a series of pictures in response to my fond memories of childhood when I used to explore the local landscape and because of the family business used visit the surrounding farms. What I found was a changed landscape; most of the elm trees that used to line the roads had died from elms disease and the smaller fields had been enlarged by removing hedges and stone walls. The smaller mixed farms were being converted for arable production and the extra buildings made redundant. But there were still clues to those previous working patterns.
